Ten TAU 80P crash cushion systems have been installed on the N25 Waterford Bypass Toll booths in Ireland. The installation took place in October last year and was required by contractors BAM Dragados WJV who are managing the N25 Waterford Bypass Project for their client the National Roads Authority (NRA). Highway Care is proud to have supplied the TAU crash cushions which have been fully approved by the National Roads Authority (NRA). The TAU crash cushions, which are fully redirectional, bidirectional Z1, D1 systems, are also fully approved by the Highways Agency for use on UK roads.
Installed by Highway Barrier Solutions, the TAU Crash Cushions provide full protection to errant motorists from impacting the toll-booths as well as protecting those working inside the booths. When impacted from the front, the system simply telescopes rearwards, absorbing the energy and capturing the errant vehicle. If impacted from the side, the system redirects the vehicle safely at a shallow exit angle.
The system is highly reusable following an impact and can be repaired on site typically in less than 2 hours. These crash cushion systems are available in 50km/h through to 110km/h speed ratings and can protect hazards of widths ranging from 0.7m to 3.1m.
