Date: 30/01/2012
Birse Civils Eastern region choose Highway Care Ltd to supply and Install 6.1km of BarrierGuard for their M4 Datchet project.
BarrierGuard was installed to protect the workforce whilst work took place on upgrading existing drainage and safety barriers along both eastbound and westbound carriageways, as well as resurfacing of the eastbound carriageway and slip road.
The installation of BarrierGuard was carried out by Highway Care Ltd on behalf of Birse Civils on the M4 between junctions 5 and 6, near Datchet. This is a primary route between London and the West Country/Wales with this particular stretch of the M4 being part of the Olympic Route Network. Hence timely delivery of the upgrade was of essence aiding the Olympic Delivery Authority‘s promise to meet journey times between London and the Olympic venue at Dorney Lake.
Chris Strumidlo of Birse Civils commented: “This was the first time we used Highway Care for the Birse Eastern region and we are extremely pleased with how everything proceeded according to schedule. The entire operation was smooth and ran according to timetable” .
Highway Care’s BarrierGuard is easily installed, versatile and easily accessed and replaced. The unique ‘QuickMount’ connector design allows installation of up to 300 metres of barrier per hour. BarrierGuard is available in 6 and 12 metre section lengths with special angle sections, gate systems also available.
