Is YOUR Equipment compliant with Chapter 8 - 2009?

Chapter 8 - 2009 requires operators of vehicles equipped with mobile signing (including Impact Protection Vehicles) to ensure the signs are fully reflectorised using a micro-prismatic retroreflective material. All micro-prismatic signing must be angled to avoid a blinding glare to approaching motorists.

The deadline for implementing the above, applying to ALL equipment (whether in use already or not) is 31st March, 2011. By upgrading your equipment now you will enhance safety and avoid the rush that is anticipated toward the end of this year and early 2011.

In general, the upgrade will involve fitting a galvanised steel framework to the existing light-arrow and installing new or re-covered aluminium panels. The diag. 610 arrow motor will be re-positioned accordingly along with any peripheral equipment including 4-fold lamps where fitted. Due to a process of continual development and differing specifications, there are many derivatives of light-arrows presently in use, therefore, not every system is economic to upgrade.
