Demountable Wheeled Steel Step Barrier (DSSB)

Demountable Steel Step Barrier

The Demountable wheeled Steel Step Barrier system (DSSB) provides a removable steel barrier section within a permanent step barrier installation to form Emergency Crossing Points (ECP) or Maintenance Crossing Points (MCP).

DSSB listed in the Highways Agency’s “Approved Road Restraint Systems”, has a Containment Level of H2 with a Working Width of W3. It can be installed directly to permanent step barrier installations without complex transitions, maintaining continuous H2 performance and comparable Working Widths. The system is quick to install and operate. A clear opening installation of 22.8m can be removed for access by two operatives using hand tools in 20 minutes.

Available also is the permanent Steel Step Barrier and Half Steel Step Barrier. Steel Step Barrier system (SSB) is a high performance permanent steel step barrier providing high containment. SSB has exactly the same dimensions as Concrete Step Barrier (CSB) and is used where the weight of CSB is a factor in addition to where space limitations or a requirement for reduced setback exist. SSB has a low level step, slopes away from traffic and is smooth sided without posts allowing traffic to move at speed close to the system without fear of snagging causing an accident should a minor impact occur.

SSB is fully tested to BS EN1317-2, has a Containment Level of H2 with a Working Width of W3 and is fully approved for use on UK roads. It can be connected directly to CSB or transitioned to other types of permanent barrier.

The Half Sided Step Barrier (HSSB) is derived from SSB providing a single sided system for parapet protection, accommodating lighting columns, locating either side of longitudinal joints etc., HSSB is fully tested to BS EN 1317-2, has a Containment Level of H2 with a Working Width of W1. It can be connected directly to SSB and CSB or transitioned to other types of permanent barrier.
