Job Role: Workshop Mechanic, Highway Care Ltd- Ledbury

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

 Job Purpose:

 The purpose of this role is to maintain a range of vehicles and equipment operated or used by Highway Care and its customers, being responsive and adaptable to the continually changing requirements of the Company and its Customers. Work at any Highway Care premises or that of its customers at locations normally within the UK, operating under varying shift patterns (accepting these may change at short notice) and including if required night / weekend work.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Work individually or as part of the workshop team, at all times maintaining high levels of workmanship and customer service in the following activities:
  • Servicing / Inspections as authorised
  • All aspects of vehicle maintenance
  • Breakdowns (potentially 24 hrs) including Hire vehicles
  • Vehicle Defects
  • Repairs
  • Workshop stores and tools
  • When interacting with customers, outside agencies and public, maintain a courteous, professional and helpful approach/response. If appropriate, route questions and enquiries to relevant department normally via Workshop Manager
  • Uphold general health & safety requirements and those specific to the role
  • Efficiency of individual work through-put including checking for accuracy and quality as relevant to a specific task
  • Contribute to the overall safe, efficient and productive team and environment, including housekeeping tasks
  • Assist with the safety and welfare of people visiting or assisting with work in designated work areas
  • Actively participate in the ‘team’, cooperating with other workshop employees and sharing ideas that may make the team more effective.
  • Keep accurate records of labour hours and materials usage including the completion of administrative tasks and submission of paperwork in a timely, legible and truthful manner
  • Maintain tools and equipment, reporting any deficiencies or defects to Workshop Manager
  • Looking after property whether it belongs to colleagues, Company or customers.
  • Maintaining at all times safe work areas and environment.

Essential Skills, Competencies, Qualifications and Behaviours Necessary to Perform this Role

  • Formal qualification – City & Guilds (or similar)
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • LGV C+E Licence /CPC would be an advantage
  • Flexible attitude

Job role: Mechanical Assembly fitter, Highway Care Ltd- Ledbury

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Carry out electrical, hydraulic and mechanical fitting activities to produce sub-assemblies and finished products to the high standards of workmanship required by the Company
  • Uphold general health & safety requirements and those specific to the role
  • Efficiency of individual work through-put including testing and checking for accuracy and quality
  • Contribute to the overall safe, efficient and productive team and environment, including housekeeping tasks
  • Assist with the safety and welfare of people visiting or assisting with work in designated work areas
  • Actively participate in design and development when requested
  • Keep accurate records of labour hours and materials usage
  • Maintain tools and equipment, reporting any deficiencies or defects
  • Preserving customer property you come into contact with, whilst it is temporarily in Company care.
  • Assist in any other ‘department’ as and when prioritised to include loading/unloading, goods-in/despatch and operating fork-lift.

Essential Skills, Competencies, Qualifications and Behaviours Necessary to Perform this Role

  • A basic Knowledge of Auto Electrics and Hydraulics
  • Excellent attention to details
  • Excellent team working skills
  • Logical thinker and good problem solving skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Forklift truck licence would be an advantage

Experience:

  • Mechanical Assembly: 1 year (Preferred)
